What is Arthritis?

Arthritis Treatment Parramatta

Arthritis literally means inflammation of one or more joints. Arthritis is frequently accompanied by joint pain and is commonly a source of neck pain. Neck pain and stiffness may develop from ‘wear and tear’ to the spinal joints and discs resulting in damage to the articular cartilage. This can be degenerative in nature, be gradual in onset, and may become chronic.  Cervical arthritis can be seen in all age groups but is most common in older patients, obese individuals, heavy labourers and individuals with previous injuries to the spine.

Chiropractors Treatments and Care

Sports Chiropractic Castle Hill
Chiropractic is a health care profession that treats back pain, neck pain, sciatica, joint problems, sprains, strains, osteoarthritis, herniated discs and other musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions. A Chiropractor does not prescribe drugs or surgery but traditionally relies on a variety of manual therapies, including spinal manipulation and mobilisation, to improve function and provide pain relief for patients. Besides helping to relieve pain, chiropractic care can also help reduce inflammation.
While chiropractic adjustments of the joints are commonly associated with this profession, doctors of chiropractic are not just limited to manipulation of the spine. Many evidence-based chiropractic treatments that are part of modern chiropractic care, include but are not limited to the use of physiologic therapeutics like ultrasound, electrical nerve stimulation, cold laser, ESWT and traction, acupuncture and dry needling, and the incorporation of home exercises, nutrition and postural advice for self-management strategies.
At Chiropractor Carepractitioners will readily refer patients to the appropriate health care provider when chiropractic care is not suitable for the patient’s condition, or the condition warrants co-management in conjunction with other members of the health care team.
Treatment is very much a partnership between you and your chiropractor. Before your treatment starts, your chiropractor will explain to you clearly:
  • what they found in the examination
  • the treatment plan they propose and its duration
  • the benefits and any significant risks associated with your condition and proposed treatment
  • informed consent for treatment
  • whether co-management with other healthcare providers or your GP will be necessary.
